Are you getting married to someone on the H1 visa?
If you are marrying a person holding the H1 B visa in the US it is likely that you have many questions:
What is the life in U.S.?
Can I work on the H4 visa?
Can I study on the H4 visa?
Will there be others like me?
Will I make new friends ?
How will I live so far apart from my family?

Monty : I worked in the military. Now I am applying for the H4.
Hello,I am an Indian and my wife is from Brazil and currently working in U.S on H1b. I worked for U.S government in Iraq in Military base. I met my wife there. I had to quit my job and come back to India because we planned to have engagement party in India and court marriage in Brazil. We did engagement party in India and I went to Brazil for court marriage. Now I am planning to apply for H4 so I can stay with my wife I am planning to study spanish in U.S during my stay. We got married in Brazil on 30th Sept 2010.
I am not currently working is it gonna effect my H4?
Thanks
Monty

Hi Monty,
Congratulations!
Your current work status should not affect this. They want people to come on the H4 visa and not work. However, in my opinion you will be questioned extensively on your previous role in the Military. You will have to explain to him how you plan to stay at home without working. Please prepare how you would like to present your case.
Let me know if you have any other questions. Also, it would be great if you can post the outcome of your H4 visa interview.
Good luck!
Hi,
Hi,
My spouse got his H1B extension Approved, recently , and he is busy with work currently so not visiting India for stamping. In this time we are planning to get married in USA itself, with my Visiting visa so,
1. Will it be possible to transfer my B2 - H4 as he does not have his h1 stamping done yet.
2. Do i need to transfer B2-H4 immediately and get stamping done or is there any timeframe that i can stay in US after marraige ?
3. What all things i need to have for H4 stamping as we are married in USA.
